Dubai security chief: we must hit the Brotherhood’s leadership in Kuwait

Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan, head of general security in Dubai, has been attacked by Kuwaitis for accusing the country of harbouring members of the Muslim Brotherhood’s political leadership.

In a recent tweet, Kuwaiti journalist and writer Saad Al-Saeedi wrote, “What do you want from Kuwait Dhahi Khalfan? My country is an honest mediator. If you do not like our mediation, you can express this frankly”.

He added, “Do you intend to besiege my country like you did with Qatar?”

He then directed a tweet to the UAE’s Sheikh: “If what Khalfan said about Kuwait is an expression of your opinion, then announce this, if not, then silence him”.

Kuwaiti lawyer Mohammed Musaed Al-Dosari tweeted, “Dhahi Khalfan is accusing Kuwait of producing terrorism… would the Emiratis allow anyone to accuse them of exporting terrorism?”

Khaflan also tweeted: “The Muslim Brotherhood in the Gulf has two leaderships, a religious leadership based in Doha and a political leadership based in Kuwait. Hitting both leaderships with one stone is very important!”

The Kuwaiti Emir has been leading mediation efforts to resolve the Gulf crisis since 5 June when Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed their ties with Qatar and imposed punitive measures on the country under the pretext of its support for terrorism. These claims have been denied by Doha.
