Ahmed Mansoor’s detention conditions remain poor

Rights sources have revealed that leading human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor continues to be held in solitary confinement amid poor detention conditions, despite recently undertaking a month-long hunger strike for better treatment at UAE’s al-Sadr prison.

The International Centre for Justice and Human Rights (ICJHR) have said that Mansoor continues to be deprived of his most basic human rights, including not being allowed to spend the money his family sends him for things he needs in the prison, being denied exercise, to walk in the open air, or even access to a bed.

Sources on the ground told ICJHR that Mansoor still sleeps on the floor in his cell, despite his poor health condition. He has also been banned from receiving family visits, or meeting with his lawyer.
