Amina Abdouli demands prison transfer in new leaked recording

Emirati female prisoner of conscience Amina Abdouli, currently serving a five-year sentence on freedom of expression related charges, has appealed to complete the rest of her prison term in a jail closer to her children.

Amina, a mother of five, was arrested in 2015 along with her sister Moza and two brothers Mos’ab and Waleed for speaking out in support of their father Mohammed Ahmed Abdouli, a former colonel of the UAE army who was sentenced for two years without a trial in 2005. He was later killed fighting in Syria in 2013.

In the newly-released recording, Amina demanded to be transferred from al-Wathba prison to a prison closer to her family, who reside in al-Fujairah.

In previous recordings, Amina has complained about her difficult detention conditions and said that she has been subjected to severe torture and ill-treatment.
