AOHR: UAE uses Interpol for political reasons

Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) held a seminar titled ‘The UAE and Interpol: Politics, Procedures and lack of Transparency’ on 17 May 2018.

The panel of experts in attendance discussed the relationship between the UAE and the International Police Organisation, Interpol, with specific reference to the way in which the UAE attempts to use its contribution to Interpol’s funding as leverage to legitimise its use of ‘Red Notices’ (international arrest warrants issued for the purpose of extradition).

All panellists in attendance had extensive experience in dealing with cases pertaining to the UAE and its attempts to subvert international norms surrounding transparency and extradition.
