Dozens of activists enter new year in UAE jails

More than 200 prisoners of conscience, including Emirati nationals and foreigners are expected to enter today a new year behind the UAE bars.

As New Year 2017 is celebrated around the world, peaceful activists and government critics in the UAE are prevented from sharing joy with their families and beloved ones.

Those arbitrary held in the UAE detention centers are denied any kind of access to the external world including family visits.

Approximately 204 political prisoners from are currently held in UAE jails from 13 different countries including: Palestine, Yemen, Libya, Jordan, Tunisia, Syria, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Egypt. 

Amongst the 108 reported Emirati prisoners, there are 79 members of al-Islah organisation who have been recently banned in UAE.
