Emirati prisoner of conscience declares hunger strike for 12 days

The Emirati prisoner of conscience Imran Radwan, held in al-Rezin prison, declared hunger strike for 12 consecutive days in protest against his difficult detention condition.

Radwan, who was jailed five years ago for freedom of expression charges, took his decision after he was brutally attacked nearly two weeks ago by the prison guards.

Earlier last month, Nepali security guards were ordered to conduct a search raid in ward 7 of al-Rezin prison, where prisoners of conscience are held.

The prisoners were stripped searched and brutally attacked during the raid.
