Former British soldier detained in UAE

A former corporal Andrew Neal, 44, has been held in a UAE jail on drug related charges for the past 4 months.

According to Detained in Dubai, a London-based pressure group, Andrew Neal was arrested at his home in Dubai and later forced to sign a false confessions in Arabic, a language he does not understand.

The incident is the latest in a quick succession of cases whereby British nationals have been arrested on spurious grounds in the UAE.

With each one pressure grows on the UK government to reevaluate its bilateral ties with the country.
