Freedom House: The UAE remains ‘not free’, according to 2019 report

The US-based independent watchdog Freedom House has designated the UAE as ‘not free’ in their latest annual survey on political and civil rights around the world.

The "Freedom in the World 2019” report gives the UAE an aggregate score of 17 out of 100 (with 100 being most free).

Once again, the UAE scored 6 out of 7 on civil liberties and 7 on political rights (with 7 being least free).

Freedom House is a US-government funded NGO which describes itself as ‘a clear voice for democracy and freedom around the world’. Since its founding in 1941, it has conducted research and advocacy on political freedoms, democracy and human rights.
