HRW asked the UAE to acquit Ahmed Mansour

Human Rights Watch (HRW) called on the UAE authorities to release the prominent human rights activist Ahmed Mansour immediately.

In a statement on Thursday, September the 21st, Joe Stork, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, said “the charges submitted against Ahmad Mansour are a violation of his right to freedom of expression.”

He added: “If the UAE is concerned about its reputation, it should immediately release him, ”explaining that such arrest evidences the government’s intolerance regarding peaceful opposition in the UAE.”

“How many Emiratis does the government intend to imprison for peacefully expressing their political views?” He asked.

On Wednesday evening, rights activists launched an electronic solidarity campaign in support of Ahmed Mansour.
