the International Centre for Justice and Human Rights in Geneva's new petition

The UAE government arbitrarily detains, and in some cases forcibly disappears, individuals who criticize the authorities, in fact many Emiratis and foreign nationals have been seized by UAE authorities and detained in undisclosed locations.

UAE has even tortured people in custody and has denied them the right to a speedy trial and access to a counsel during official investigations

 

Manny of the detained individuals encompass intellectuals such as economists , judges , professors , lawyers and advocates who were put behind bars because they called for a democratic reform in the UAE and stood in support of human rights and freedoms.

 

In this context, the International Centre for Justice and Human Rights in Geneva has recently started a petition  that calls on personalities, associations, organizations and all UN and Regional Human Rights mechanisms for greater solidarity with prisoners of conscience and human rights activists in the United Arab Emirates
