Island MP joins fight to help British cancer patient trapped in Dubai

The plight of a British cancer patient trapped in Dubai has been taken up by Isle of Wight MP Andrew Turner.
Luisa Williams, whose mother lives on the island, says she was diagnosed with advanced kidney cancer two weeks ago.
She wants to return to the UK for treatment but the authorities in the United Arab Emirates have confiscated her passport.
Luisa, who had been living in Dubai, was convicted of illegally promoting a charity fundraiser and a court ordered her deportation.
"It is now illegal to promote any kind of charitable activities through any charity that is not registered by the UAE government."
Radha Stirling from campaign group Detained in Dubai said: "This is a typical problem, this is not a unique situation that she's facing.
"The UAE legal system is exceptionally slow, they take months to process paperwork and there is no sense of urgency no matter what the humanitarian crisis someone might be facing.
"Luisa is distraught, she really thought she'd win her case because she had so much evidence to support her.
"She had no ability to appeal and then to have this news thrust on her about her health, she's not in a good shape at the moment.
"It is now illegal to promote any kind of charitable activities through any charity that is not registered by the UAE government.
"This includes all charities outside the country and the simple click of the 'like' button on Facebook can be deemed a criminal offence in Dubai."
Isle of Wight MP Andrew Turner has contacted the Foreign Office to urge them to help Luisa return to the UK.
