Kim Kardashian to be investigated over charitable visit to Dubai

The UAE authorities declared intention to open an investigation into a visit by the American reality TV star's Kim Kardashian to the Rashid Centre for the Disabled Children.

Last month, Kardashian visited the Rashid Centre for the Disabled in Dubai and joined the children who performed a folk dance in Emirati traditional dress.

The UAE authorities claimed that the visit was not authorised and "had no goal from which students could benefit", blaming the centre for hosting Kardashian without its permission.

We would have rejected such a request because approval depends on "full commitment to the customs and traditions of the state," the authorities said.

Under laws introduced in 2015 it is illegal to advertise fundraising campaigns in Dubai without written approval from the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department.

A number of charity workers were targeted and persecuted over the past months in the UAE for promoting charitable activities.
