Laleh Shahravesh: “I was suicidal”

The British woman who was arrested in Dubai last month for calling her ex-husband’s new wife a “horse” has revealed the mental strain she was forced to endure during the 33 days she was held in the UAE.

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror upon her return home last Friday, she told the reporter: ’I just wanted to die. It was torture to me’.

Having been separated from her 14-year old daughter, who had to fly home on her own after her mother’s arrest at Dubai airport, she described herself as ‘broken physically and mentally’. ’I thought I would neve see my daughter again’.

Faced with being evicted from her home after losing her job as a result of her arrest, Ms Shahravesh is now trying to rebuild her life back in the UK.
