Nine Emirati prisoners still held beyond their release date
UAE authorities continue to hold nine political prisoners at al-Razeen jail past the completion of their sentences.
Abdallah Ali Alhajery, Omran Alharethy, Mahmoud Alhoseny, Ahmed Almolla, Faysal, Othman and Abdelwaheed Elshoh, Said Elbrimy and Kalifa Rabiaa have all completed their sentences but have not yet been released. The reason for their continued detention remains unknown. It also unclear how much longer these men will be held.
Following a sustained campaign, three political prisoners were released as part of an Eid pardon, after spending months in administrative detention. Osama Al-Najjar, held for over two extra years, was one of them.
