Osama al-Najjar still kept in UAE jail despite completing his sentence ten months ago

After spending three years in prison, the Emirati human rights defender and blogger Osama al-Najjar was due for release on 17 March 2017, however; the UAE authorities did not release him.

Osama al-Najjar was arrested on 17 March 2014 for campaigning on social media and expressing concern about his father’s torture and ill-treatment during the detention, the conditions in Al-Razaan prison and the unfair UAE94 trial.

The Emirati Center for Human Rights (ECHR) has launched a Twitter storm marking the 10-month extension of Osama’s arbitrary administrative detention.

Please take action for Osama al-Najjar and join the urgent action of the ECHR. Join the campaign on Twitter and write letters to the UAE authorities to ask for his release.
