Ossama al-Najjar was transfered to the Al Rezin prison despite his sentence expiration

The UAE authorities transfered the political activist Ossama al-Najjar, who has already served three quarters of his sentence, to the Al Rezin desert prison where the detention conditions are more difficult.

The 27-year-old Osama Al-Najjar was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 500,000 Emirati Dirham for his online activities in defense of human rights in UAE and his father Hossain Al-Najjar who is unfairly jailed as part of UAE 94 trial.

On 17 March 2014, UAE security forces violently arrested Osama Al-Najjar .Since then, he was tortured and jailed amid very difficult detention conditions .A fine of 500,000 Emirati Dirham was also imposed on Al-Najjar for posting tweets in support of his father who is currently serving an 11-year-term for his human rights activities.

UAE authorities illegally and unfairly continue to refuse to release   Al-Najjar .

Human rights organizations have reportedly documented human rights violations against prisoners of opinion in UAE jails including Al-Najjar and hid his father.
