Snapchat removing content from its application

Snapchat company recently agreed to ban some of the content found in its application, especillay the one found critical to the UAE. This happened after the company received a request impelling it to prohibit any content that is "against the culture of the state".

According to the newspaper "Khaleej Times", the motive behind this action was related to the fact that the published videos encompassed sensitive contents that didn't place any restrictions for age or even warnings on the application.

However, with the long record of escalated restrictions to freedoms and censorships, Fears come with the hypothesis stating that such deeds are a new way for the UAE to implement restrictions on freedom of speech.

The study  made by "YouGov" Research has shown that 34% of the UAE's population uses "snapchat," The study also showed that most of the shared content included personal photos with a rate of 58%, compared to 39% of status updates, 35% of personal opinions, and 35% of news and videos.
