Tayseer al-Najjar’s wife appeals for his release

The Jordanian journalist Tayseer al-Najjar’s wife, Majeda Hourani, sent an open letter to Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Sheikh Zayed al-Nahyan’s wife, to intervene for her husband’s immediate release from prison in the UAE.

Hourani said that her family are experiencing extremely difficult times and challenging circumstances due to the father’s absence.

"My five children are missing their father especially in this holy month of Ramadan", she said.

Al-Najjar, who was detained in December 2015, was sentenced to three years in prison in March of this year over a Facebook post critical of the United Arab Emirates foreign policy in relation to the 2014 Israeli offensive against the blockaded Gaza Strip.
