Tayseer al-Najjar's trial adjourned to Feb. 15

The ICFUAE has learned that Tayseer al-Najjar, detained since Dec 2015 for his Facebook comments, had appeared in court on February 1, but the session was adjourned to February 15.

The adjournment of the trial was requested by the defence lawyer.

Tayseer al-Najjar, a Jordanian journalist held incommunicado in the United Arab Emirates since December 2015, appeared in a hearing at the Abu Dhabi Appeal Court on Wednesday. He is thought to be currently held in Al-Wathba desert prison.

Tayseer was recently charged with “offending the state” during the first trial hearing held on January 18, his wife Majida Hourani revealed.
