UAE authorities fail to investigate rights violations against female prisoners

The UAE authorities have refused to investigate the human rights violations reported over the past few months against female prisoners held in Emirati prisons.

Voice recordings of prisoners of conscience Meriem al-Balushi, Amina al-Abdouli, and Alia abdel Nour affirmed that female detainees in Al-Wathba prison were subjected to torture and ill-treatment.

In the leaked recordings, the prisoners said that Nepalese guards have become notorious for their aggressive treatment of prison inmates.

Unfortunately, no measure was taken so far into the torture allegations.
