UAE continues to hold prisoners despite serving their prison sentences

The UAE authorities continue to arbitrary hold the activists Ahmed Mohamed Al-Mulla, Badr Al-Bahri, and Abdullah Al-Helou despite having spent their three-year prison term after being arrested in 2014 for their political affiliation.

Three three political detainees are the only case, the prisoners of conscience Osama al-Najjar and Obeid Zoabi remain in prison even though they fully spent their impirsonment sentences.

The UAE authorities are acting contrary to international law, as well as the UAE’s own laws, by keeping individuals who have served their sentences in prison beyond their release dates.
