The UAE continues to ignore wave of appeals for Ahmed Mansoor's release

The UAE authorities continue to ignore the appeals and petitions made by local and international rights groups for more more than twenty consecutive days calling for the immediate and uncoditional release of prominent human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor.

 The winner of the 2015 Laureate Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders was arbitrary arrested on March 20 and is currently held in al-Sader prison without access to legal representation.

His arrest is believed to be due his calls for the release of prisoners of conscience including Osama Al-Najjar, who was due to be released last month but remains imprisoned.
