UAE court sentences two Bahrainis to 3 years in jail for posting a video on social media

An Emirati court sentenced on Wednesday (April 26, 2017) two Bahrainis, Abbas Ahmad Marzooq, 37 years, and Ali Hassan Al-Hinni, 37 years, to 3 years in prison and 500.000 Dirham fine over publishing footage on social media outlets.

Marzooq's family said that it received the issued sentence through the assigned lawyer via a phone call on Wednesday. The family added that the lawyer confirmed that he will challenge the verdict in a month.

The Emirati authorities accuse Marzooq and Al-Hinni of "committing an act that is considered a crime pursuant to the legislations for the electronic means" over publishing footage on social media outlets while being in Dubai.
