Since the Arab Spring of 2011, the Emirati regime has launched an all-out assault on freedom of speech. This has resulted in the detention of academics, journalists and human rights defenders for little more than voicing dissent online. It is about the time the UAE's cybercrime law was brought in line with international standards of human rights.
