Demands to set Tayseer Al-Najar Free

The Committee of defence on Tayseer Al Najjar, which is composed of fellow Jordanian journalists and laywers, said that Tayseer is suspended for pending investigation and has been detained in Al Wathba prison in the UAE for a period exceeding eight months. It also expressed its solidarity with him and said that it is trying to support him with all legal and legitimate means. The committee is currently looking for the best strategy to defend him and is calling for his release before Eid Al-Adha.

The same Committee said that Al Najjar's family is eagerly waiting for his release especially after the psychological and physical drawbacks resulting from his imprisonment especially that he wasn't assigned any charges for it and that he even didn't undergo any trial. The exact reasons for which he is currently behind bars remain unknown

It is important to note that several international NGOs have called for Tayseer Al-Najjar's release, including Human Rights Watch which urged the UAE authorities, in one of its previous statements, to drop any charges against the Jordanian journalist, However no actions have been taken.
