International campaign to boycott UAE for discriminatory laws

A group of human rights activists declared during a workshop attended by dozens of human rights groups and defenders and victims of UAE’s discriminatory laws, a global campaign to boycott UAE.

The International Campaign to Boycott UAE (ICBU) will commence its activities as early as on October 15.

Various activist groups have already been formed in Paris, Brussels, Berlin, London, Rome, Madrid, and New York. Other groups will also be launched in other countries under the General Secretariat of ICBU.

ICBU has been launched in response to the Gulf country’s never-ending human rights violations.

In its 2016 report, HRW criticised UAEs human rights record suggesting there is no freedom of expression while its jails are characterised of arbitrary detention, torture, and mistreatment of detainees.

The report has also criticised UAE’s war on Yemen as well as lack of ill-treatment of foreign workers.
