Rights group raises alarm bells over human rights violations after Qatar blockade

Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) expressed deep concern over reports of human rights violations after the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain imposed a complete blockade on Qatar.

"We are alarmed by reports of human rights violations and other adverse consequences of the crisis for the people of both Qatar and the participants in the blockade", the group said in a statement issued Tuesday.

ADHRB called for a quick and peaceful resolution to the dispute in order to prevent the continuation and worsening of such attendant abuses.

It also called to lift all restrictions on freedom of expression after the UAE authorities imposed heavy prison terms on social media users for criticising the blockade decision.
