Rights orgs call for naming a street in Manchester after Ahmed Mansoor
More than 30 rights organizations called on Manchester’s mayor Andy Burham to name a street in the city after the award-winning Emirati human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor.
In a letter sent to mayor Burham, the organizations appealed for his support for Ahmed Mansoor’s release.
We believe that this will be facilitated by raising awareness of his case by naming a street after him in Manchester, the letter reads.
Last Tuesday, UAE authorities sentenced Mansoor to 10 years in prison for criticising serious human rights violations in his country.
