Washington Institute: The UAE is one of the most restrictive states in the Middle East

The U.S. based educational foundation Washington Institute declared in a new report that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the most restrictive states in the Middle East in the domain of political rights and civil liberties.

According to the report, public space for discussion of political reform has contracted even more in the UAE since the Arab Spring swept across the region in 2011.
