Three Emirati activists kept in jail despite the expiry of their sentence

The UAE authorities continue to arbitrarily detain three prisoners of conscience despite the expiry of their sentence in total violation to international laws and norms.

Osama Al-Najjar remains in prison, even though he was scheduled to be released on 17 March 2017 after serving his full three-year prison sentence.

The young blogger, who was 25 years old during his arrest in 2014, was sentenced to three years in prison for twitting in defense of the UAE 94 detainees, among whom was his own father.

The prisoners of conscience Said al-Buraimi and Abdu al-Wahid al-Badi are also kept in UAE jails despite the fact that they have both finished their prison sentence on  March 5, 2018.
