Jordanian journalist and UAE prisoner of conscience Tayseer al-Najjar's wife, Majeda al-Horane, has launched a cry for help, calling for her husband's immediate and unconditional release.

This came shortly after reports suggest that al-Najjar's health has recently deteriorated significantly as a result of not receiving adequate medical treatment in UAE's al-Wathba prison.

Tayseer al-Najjar was originally detained by the UAE authorities on 3 December 2015, where he was held for more than a year without charge or access to a lawyer. A journalist of 15 years, al-Najjar began working in the UAE in April 2015 after landing a job as a cultural reporter for the UAE based al-Dar newspaper.
